Weekly Scrub is a free email newsletter for UK cleaning business owners. This notice explains what information we collect when you sign up or use this website, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We've kept it in plain English.
Weekly Scrub is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. That means we decide what information is collected and how it is used.

What we collect
- Your email address, when you sign up. This is all we need to send you the newsletter.
- Your first name, if you choose to give it, so we can say hello properly.
- How you use our emails, such as whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. Our newsletter platform records this automatically so we can see what readers find useful.
- Anything you send us, such as a reply to the newsletter or an email to us.
Why we use it and our legal basis
- To send you Weekly Scrub. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give when you sign up.
- To understand which content is useful and improve the newsletter. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in making a better newsletter.
- To reply to you when you get in touch. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your message.
We will never sell your information, and we won't add you to any other mailing list without asking.
Sponsors and affiliate links
Some emails include sponsored sections or affiliate links, which are always labelled. We don't share your email address with sponsors or affiliate partners. If you click a link to another website, that website's own privacy policy applies.
Who helps us
We use a small number of trusted services to run Weekly Scrub. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- beehiiv sends the newsletter, hosts the sign-up form and stores subscriber details. beehiiv is based in the United States, so your information is transferred outside the UK. These transfers are protected by approved safeguards, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Google Workspace handles our email, so it processes any messages you send us.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and keeps it secure. Like most web hosts, it processes technical information such as your IP address when you visit.
Cookies
This website doesn't set its own cookies or use analytics tracking. The sign-up form is provided by beehiiv, which may use cookies needed to make the form work.
How long we keep it
We keep your details while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you straight away and keep only what we need to make sure you aren't emailed again. We may also remove people who haven't opened an email for a long time. Emails you send us are kept for as long as they're useful for answering you, then deleted.
Your rights
You can:
- unsubscribe at any time, using the link at the bottom of every email;
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete your information;
- object to or ask us to restrict how we use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before.

Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this notice
If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where it matters, let subscribers know by email.
